Rules of Submission

· Several forms of submissions are allowed: articles, Divrei Torah, poems, art pieces, etc.

· The range of topics appropriate is very broad: philosophy, history, liturgy, and Halachah are just a few. It’s a good idea to check with the editors about the proposed topic.

· The length can vary from just one page to about ten or eleven.

· You may submit multiple pieces.

· You may submit papers, etc. which were written for other classes. In this case, give us the hard copy of the assignment with the teacher’s comments on it if possible.

· Avoid political statements and homiletical rants. Also, do not pasken! If you are writing an article about Halachah, make sure that you really get everything right. Remember that others will edit it.

· Make sure everything you write is appropriate, and be respectful to those with whom you disagree.

· We highly encourage submissions in Hebrew, whether modern or rabbinic.

· Here are the obvious ones: Your language should be clear. Use correct and literate English/Hebrew. Consult others if necessary. Be intellectually rigorous and honest. In short, write well about meaningful topics.

· Transliterations are acceptable, but, in the case of Hebrew, are discouraged. You may use any form you want, but please be internally consistent. Any transliterated words in a foreign language should be italicized.

· Translations are welcome, in addition to the full original text.

· Cite your sources! Plagiarism is a serious transgression against both man and God, and will not be tolerated. Give credit where credit is due. Bibliographies at the ends of articles are not required, but footnotes are encouraged. Footnotes should be used for citations and elaboration on smaller points.
